- "Vaughan Williams: Job & Old King Cole" - the playing from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic on this album is nothing short of superb and incredibly dedicated, making this disc a great entry into lesser-known works by England's legendary composer
- "Sinfonia No. 3" - George Walker's music stands the test of time because of the composer's distinctive style: stentorian, sharp-cornered, high-octane. His Sinfonia No. 3 receives a respectable rendition from the National Symphony Orchestra in this new release
- "Higdon: Duo Duel & Concerto for Orchestra" - the Houston Symphony and conductor Robert Spano pack two fresh works from American composer Jennifer Higdon into their latest recording; Duo Duel is bit of a rollercoaster with no time for (much-needed) sonic respite, but the Concerto for Orchestra is rhapsodic and effervescent in all the right ways
- "Ibert, Hartmann, Dvořák" - Ensemble Arabesques and French cellist Emmanuelle Bertrand interpret this chamber music with poise and great élan. Two lesser-known works open the album–Ibert's concerto for cello and winds and Danish composer Emil Hartmann's wind serenade–and Dvořák's popular wind serenade closes the set
- "Overtures from Finland" - Rumon Gamba leads the Oulu Sinfonia in an album of rarely-recorded music from Finnish composers contemporary with Sibelius
